Go snowmobiling
Hearst has the reputation of having some of the nicest trails in Ontario. Our trails are often compared to snow covered highways!! Plus, we have over 1,000 km of trails, which means you can ride a new trail everyday for 4 days. Make sure to check the OFSC map to see if the trails are open before your trip by clicking on "More info".
With the warming temperature, ensure that the trails are still open before planning your ride.
Go snowshoing to the Thunder House Falls
Discover one of Hearst's most beautiful asset by snowshoeing in the Boreal forest, culminating at the spectacular Thunder House Falls on the Missinibi River. The trails offer a unique and intimate experience with it's 10 km trail through the forest. As there are no overnight accommodation, you need to plan to walk the total of 20 km, as you must return on the same day. For more information or to book your tour, see the Facebook page Les Raquetteurs de Thunder House Falls or contact Marc Johnson on his Facebook page directly.

Great North Acres is located on 72 acres in Jogues,Ontario (15kms South of Hearst) Originally homesteaded by the Bureau family and run as a scrap yard, small engine repair, a farm and abattoir that suffered a total loss due to fire. In October 2020, the dream that was to be Great North Acres was born. With huge ideas, thoughts, and aspirations; We (the Buttnor family) started to build on the foundations that were already set. Planting gardens, building a greenhouse, purchasing cows, chickens and other livestock. Making friends and business acquaintances, all the while learning as we went. We look forward to seeing what the future has in store for us at Great North Acres.
